The backstage of PLUO

πŸš€ Do you sometimes feel that meetings are going in circles? πŸ”„ That it's often the same people who speak up while others hang back?

✨At PLUO, we are aware of these challenges and have taken steps to transform the dynamics of our meetings. ✨

πŸ”Š How does it work? Here's what we intend to do:

πŸ‘₯ Every voice matters! Thanks to sociocracy, our facilitators, all trained members of our team, ensure that each participant can express themselves and that the goals are achieved.

πŸ’‘ Game rules:

πŸ”Ή Active listening: the facilitator allocates speaking turns to promote mutual listening and to ensure that everyone is heard.

πŸ”Ή Speak in the first person, avoid judgments, and steer discussions towards constructive exchanges.

πŸ”Ή Structured feedback: for each proposal, the facilitator seeks clarifications, questions, reactions, and objections from everyone.

πŸ”Ή Inclusive decisions: an agreement is only reached if everyone consents. If disagreements persist, we rephrase until we reach a consensus or an acceptable compromise.

❓The result so far?

🀝 The potential of each team member is increasingly valued! Everyone feels more involved in the decisions made collectively, which strengthens the unity and commitment of our team.

🚧 Ongoing challenge: we acknowledge that we still need to improve our ability to make decisions more quickly. πŸ˜‰

✨ Although we have made significant progress in making our meetings more effective and engaging for everyone, it is an ongoing process, and we are committed to further improvement. ✨

🌟 Recently, the entire PLUO team gathered for a team-building day around our mission: β€œSpaces that bring us closer.”

Our 60 employees gave their time to six exceptional organizations that bring us closer to each other and to nature. πŸ’ πŸ’šπŸŒŸ

🏠 For @coteacoteasbl, a shared living arrangement where adults with disabilities can pursue their life projects in full autonomy, we painted, repaired furniture, and prepared lunch.

πŸ‘ͺ We built planters for the collaborative vegetable garden of L’hacienda. This organization supports children and their parents facing family and educational difficulties by providing them with specialized and individualized assistance, thus fostering their development.

πŸͺ΄ Together with the residents, we maintained the green spaces of the educational farm of @lessentielasbl. This organization supports the development of adults with disabilities and their families by offering them a suitable living environment and fostering mutual help and solidarity.

🍽️ For @restos.du.coeur in Wavre, we built a custom-made shelf.

🌿 We cleaned the river Haine with @be_wapp, an organization that cleans polluted sites, especially rivers. It also raises public awareness through conferences and on-the-ground actions with various partners.

🐾 For the organization @la_grange_sauvage, which offers a refuge for animals in distress, we built a birdhouse.

Thank you to all the organizations for your warm welcome and exemplary dedication. Your work and positive impact on our society inspire us. πŸ‘βœ¨
